In January 1999, the R34 Skyline GT-R (BNR34) was born based on the R33 Skyline GT-R, which until then had held the title of "strongest". The power unit was a further refinement of the famous "RB26DETT" inherited from the R32 type, and although the maximum output was limited to the domestic voluntary regulation value at the time of 280 PS, the torque was 40.0 kg/m per liter and 15.6 kg/m, making it the strongest specification for a domestically produced engine at the time. The transmission is a 6-speed manual jointly developed with Getrag. The body size has also been downsized compared to the R33 type, greatly improving exercise performance. However, in August 2002, due to exhaust gas regulations, production ended and its history came to an end.
